The property: The estate of Salviano covers an area of an 2,000 hectares of land between the historic cities of Todi and Orvieto. The property has been owned by the aristocratic Corsini family for many centuries and lies in the heart of the Orvieto Classico DOC area. Location of the vineyards and soil characteristics: The vineyards are situated from 250 to 380 m. at sea level on the hills overlooking the northern bank of the Lake of "Corbara". The exposures vary from south-west to east-south-east for the vineyards and the soil originates from decaying tufa rocks, the same type from which the farm's antique cellar is excavated.Currently only 60 hectares are under vine, planted to Procanico, Verdello, Grechetto, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Malvasia and Pinot Blanc as well as Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The best grapes are selected for the production of "Orvieto Classico", the vinification of which takes place in cellars dug out the limestone under Salviano Castle. |

High selection : The best grapes are selected for the production of "Orvieto Classico", the vinification takes place in cellars dug out the limestone under Salviano Castle. Tasting notes: Straw-coloured wine with green reflections barely noticeable; secondary fragrances of delicate fermentation, non aggressive or overpowering, with light and simple varietal scents. For some, the wine results savoury to the palate, but smooth and rotund, without being flat, an important structure uncommon for this denomination. In addition, it will conserve well when bottled and promises to further develop a bouquet presently of notable entity. Dry and crisp, medium bodied wine with good flavour and balance, clean, long finish. Serving temperature : 12 C |
