Pisa - San Ranieri - (June 16th-17th)

In the evening the banks of the river Arno (the so-called Lungarni).  are illuminated by torches, and about seventy thousands of lighted candles float downstream on corks.

The next day the historical "Regatta of San Ranieri" is held on the river; it is a rowing contest, with eight oarsmen in 16th-century costume on each boat, representing the city's various quarters.
