Pisa - Game of the Bridge (June 27th)

The event is traditionally held on the last Sunday of June and also includes the historical parade with 709 participants dressed in 16th century Spanish costume.

Two groups contend for the Ponte di Mezzo, a bridge over the Arno. Each tries to push a heavy cart to the rivals' side, overcoming their resistence.

The intensity of the effort that the twenty heavily-built men of each team put into the challenge is very impressive.

The victory goes to the team that conquers the Bridge by pushing the cart and all the opponents to the opposite end of the sliding rail.
