Genzano (Rome) - Infiorata ( Early in June)

For the feast of Corpus Domini, a street is laid with a floral carpet of elaborate motifs representing coats of arms and other designs; some reproduce artworks. They are laid within a few hours, but they are the result of lengthy and painstaking preparation.

 For two weeks before the feast day baskets of flowers are picked over and divided by colour; the petals are then separated from the stems, which are ground up to make the frames of the panels.
