We don't know the Etruscan name of the City, but probably it was "Velzna", the
ancient city whose location is also unknown.
"Tempio del Belvedere" is the unique important remain of the ancient City.
On the north of the city, the "Necropolis del Crocefisso del Tufo"
includes many Etruscan tombs, situated along the sepulchral roads.
Built with tufa blocks and characterized by Etruscan
writing they represents an important find of Etruscan civilization.
Of note are the Tombs Golini, on Settecamini hill and Hescanas tomb, on Rubello hillock, showing coloured paintings of etruscan life.
On "Faina Palace", in front of the Cathedral, Civic Museum hosts an interesting collection of finds and other
exhibits of Etruscan people. |
