The "Sala Capitolare",
small museum of sacred art. |
Next to the Church of St. Agostino is the "Sala Capitolare" a
small museum of sacred art, with an interesting fresco cycle by
Sienese artists, such as Giovanni di Paolo, Sassetta, Cozzarelli,
D'Ambrosi.
It hosts also a fine work of art by Pietro Lorenzetti. Inside are
on display sacred vestements, tabernacles, ex voto, and some
paintings of the 16th Century. Of note is a decorated votive
candle dating back to 1700 and some 12th century illuminated
manuscripts.
